Hot flashes that wake you at 3 AM. Sleep that no longer restores you. A shorter fuse, brain fog, a waistline that changed without your diet changing. For most women these arrive in their mid-forties, years before periods actually stop, and they are often put down to stress.
They are hormonal, and they respond to treatment. This guide covers menopause treatment in Miami: when it makes sense to start, the hormone options and what each one does, what results to expect and when, and how treatment works at Rewind Anti-Aging of Miami, from the first conversation to the first follow-up labs.
When menopause treatment makes sense
Menopause is confirmed after 12 months without a period. The average age is 51. The years before it, perimenopause, are when estrogen and progesterone start to swing unpredictably, and for many women that is when symptoms are worst. Perimenopause often begins in the mid-forties, and it can start earlier than most women expect. Our guide to when perimenopause starts covers the early signs.
Timing matters more than most women are told. The Menopause Society’s position is that for healthy women under 60, or within 10 years of menopause, the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks for treating hot flashes and preventing bone loss (1). Starting in that window is the single biggest factor in how favourable the balance is.
You do not need to wait for your periods to stop. If symptoms are affecting your sleep, your work or your relationships, that is the time to have your hormones measured.
Menopause treatment options at Rewind

Rewind uses bioidentical hormones, molecularly identical to the ones your ovaries made. Each has a distinct job.
| Hormone | How it is given | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Estradiol | Patch or cream on the skin | Relieves hot flashes and night sweats, protects bone density, supports vaginal health, skin and mood |
| Micronized progesterone | Capsule at bedtime | Protects the uterine lining for women with a uterus, and helps with sleep and anxiety |
| Low-dose testosterone | Cream, about one-tenth of a man’s dose | Restores sexual desire, energy and mental clarity |
Estradiol is the most effective treatment there is for hot flashes and night sweats. The Menopause Society calls hormone therapy the most effective treatment for them, and the Endocrine Society recommends it for women whose symptoms are bothersome (1)(2). Rewind prefers transdermal estradiol, a patch or cream, because it avoids the clotting risk associated with oral estrogen.
Progesterone is essential if you still have a uterus, because estrogen on its own thickens the uterine lining. Taken at bedtime, micronized progesterone also has a calming effect, and many women find it is the part of treatment that fixes their sleep.
Testosterone is the hormone women are least often offered. Women make it too, and levels fall steadily from the late twenties. The international consensus statement on testosterone for women supports it for postmenopausal women with low sexual desire (3). Our article on whether women can take testosterone goes into the evidence.

What results to expect, and when
Most women notice sleep and mood improving within a few weeks. Hot flashes and night sweats ease over the first two to three months, and libido tends to improve on a similar timeline as the dose is adjusted.
Other benefits build more quietly. Estrogen prevents the bone loss that accelerates after menopause (1), supports skin thickness and hydration, and makes it easier to hold on to lean muscle and keep visceral fat from building around the middle. Many women also describe clearer thinking. Our article on estrogen and brain health explains why.
Why the old fear of HRT has changed

Much of what women have heard about hormone therapy dates from 2002, when the Women’s Health Initiative reported risks with an oral synthetic combination given to women whose average age was 63. Two decades of follow-up research have shown the picture is very different for younger women starting near menopause, and with bioidentical hormones. In 2025 the FDA moved to revise the boxed warning that had followed hormone therapy since then. We explain what changed in HRT black box warning removed.
Hormone therapy is still a medical treatment, and some women should not take it: those with a history of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, blood clots, endometrial cancer, active liver disease, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. That is one reason treatment starts with a full history and bloodwork, never a questionnaire.
How menopause treatment in Miami works at Rewind
1. A free first conversation. Thirty minutes to talk through your symptoms and goals, by video or in our Wynwood office.
2. Consultation and labs. Your provider takes a full history, including your menstrual history and family history of breast cancer and heart disease. A blood panel measures estradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone, DHEA-S, SHBG, FSH and LH, a thyroid panel, cortisol, CBC, a metabolic panel, lipids, vitamin D, insulin and hemoglobin A1c. Thyroid problems mimic many menopause symptoms, which is why they are checked alongside. Before this visit, fast for 8 to 12 hours; water is fine.
3. Your results review. Results usually come back within 5 to 7 business days. Your provider walks you through every number against optimal ranges, not only the “normal” range on the lab report, and puts your symptoms and your numbers side by side.
4. Your treatment plan. Which hormones, which delivery method and what dose, all decided from your labs, your symptoms and your history. Most patients begin within a couple of days to a week of the first visit.
5. Follow-up. Blood work is repeated 6 to 8 weeks after you start, then every 3 to 6 months once your dose is settled. Follow-up visits can be done by telehealth, so you only come in when you need to.
Questions to ask any Miami menopause clinic
Wherever you go for menopause treatment in Miami, these questions separate a medical program from a prescription:
- Do you test estradiol, progesterone and testosterone before prescribing, and check thyroid at the same time?
- Do you offer transdermal estradiol, and how do you decide on the delivery method?
- How do you protect the uterine lining if I still have a uterus?
- Will you consider testosterone if my desire or energy is low?
- When are my first follow-up labs, and how often after that?
- Who prescribes, and who reviews my labs afterwards?
Cost and insurance

Rewind does not accept insurance. Costs are discussed during your consultation, so you know what your program includes before anything starts.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start menopause treatment?
The best window is perimenopause or early menopause: before age 60, or within 10 years of your last period. For healthy women in that window, The Menopause Society finds the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks for hot flashes and bone protection. Women further past menopause can still be evaluated.
What hormones are used to treat menopause symptoms?
Rewind uses bioidentical hormones: estradiol as a patch or cream, micronized progesterone taken at bedtime for women who have a uterus, and low-dose testosterone cream when desire, energy or clarity are low. Which ones you need, and at what dose, is decided from your labs and symptoms.
How soon will I feel better on hormone therapy?
Most women notice sleep and mood improving within a few weeks. Hot flashes, night sweats and libido improve over two to three months as the dose is fine-tuned against your follow-up labs.
Can I see Rewind by video for menopause treatment?
Yes. Your first conversation can be by video or in our Wynwood office, and follow-up visits can be done by telehealth. Rewind cares for patients across Florida by telehealth.
Does Rewind accept insurance for menopause treatment?
