How to Choose a TRT Clinic in Miami: 8 Questions to Ask

How to choose a TRT clinic in Miami: eight questions about labs, monitoring, fertility, pricing and follow-up that separate a real testosterone program from a prescription mill.

Search for a TRT clinic in Miami and you will find dozens of options: men’s health chains, med spas that added testosterone to the menu, telehealth services that ship to your door, and physician-led practices. Their websites look similar. Their programs are not.

Testosterone replacement therapy is a long-term medical treatment, and the clinic you choose decides how carefully it is started and how closely it is watched. Here is how to choose a TRT clinic in Miami: these eight questions are the fastest way to tell a real program from a prescription with a logo on it. Ask them on the phone before you book, and hold every clinic to the same answers, including us.

1. What do you test before you prescribe?

Low testosterone is a diagnosis made with bloodwork and symptoms together. The Endocrine Society’s guideline for treating men with hypogonadism recommends confirming low testosterone with repeat morning measurements before starting treatment (1).

A serious clinic tests more than testosterone. It also measures the markers that treatment will later be checked against. Rewind’s baseline panel includes total and free testosterone, estradiol, SHBG, LH, FSH, a CBC (hematocrit and hemoglobin), a comprehensive metabolic panel, lipids, PSA, a thyroid panel, insulin, hemoglobin A1c and vitamin D.

Red flag: a clinic willing to prescribe from a symptom questionnaire, or from a single testosterone number with nothing else measured.

2. Who prescribes, and who follows me afterwards?

Ask who writes the prescription and who reviews your follow-up labs. It should be a licensed clinician you can name, not an anonymous rotation. At Rewind, treatment is medically supervised by Alexia Padron, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, and the same clinical team follows you from your first labs onward.

3. How do you monitor me once I start?

This is the question that separates programs most clearly. Testosterone raises red blood cell production in some men, converts partly to estradiol, and needs PSA tracked over time. The Endocrine Society guideline recommends monitoring hematocrit and PSA after starting treatment and periodically after that (1).

Rewind’s schedule: the first follow-up blood panel at 6 to 8 weeks, repeating testosterone, estradiol, CBC and PSA to assess the response and adjust the dose. Once your protocol is stable, maintenance monitoring every 3 to 6 months.

Red flag: “We’ll recheck your levels in a year,” or no answer at all.

4. Which delivery methods do you offer, and why?

Testosterone can be given by injection or cream, and each has trade-offs in how steady the levels are, how easy the dose is to adjust, and how much daily effort it takes. A clinic that offers only one method is fitting you to its menu.

At Rewind, testosterone cypionate injections are the most commonly prescribed method for men, and many patients self-inject at home after we train them. Creams are an option where they suit you better.

5. How do you handle fertility?

Testosterone therapy reduces sperm production. If you might want children, this needs to be part of the first conversation, not something you discover later. Ask the clinic what they do about it.

At Rewind, fertility is discussed before TRT starts. Options such as hCG, which helps maintain testicular function, or enclomiphene, which raises your own testosterone production while preserving fertility, are considered when fertility matters to you.

6. What does the price include?

This is where Miami clinics are hardest to compare, because quotes rarely describe the same thing. One price covers only the medication. Another includes labs, visits, supplies and follow-up monitoring. Before you compare numbers, ask each clinic to list:

  • the initial consultation and baseline labs
  • the medication and supplies, per month
  • follow-up blood panels, and how many per year
  • follow-up visits
  • any additional medications, such as those for estradiol or fertility

Rewind does not accept insurance, and we discuss all costs transparently during your consultation, so you know what is included before anything starts. For a fuller breakdown of how testosterone therapy is priced, see how much testosterone therapy costs.

7. Where does the medication come from?

Your testosterone should be dispensed by a licensed pharmacy against a prescription in your name. Ask which pharmacy fills it and how it reaches you. Any hesitation here is worth noticing.

8. How do I reach you between visits?

Dose adjustments, a lab result that needs explaining, a question about an injection: TRT generates questions between appointments. Ask how you get an answer, and how quickly. At Rewind, follow-up visits can be done by telehealth, and our team handles questions between visits.

Local clinic or online TRT?

Telehealth-only programs can be convenient, and follow-up visits by video are often all you need. The difference shows up in the parts that happen in person: the blood draw, a body composition scan, and a clinical team you can visit when something needs a closer look. We compare the two models in detail in online TRT vs in-person care.

Location matters for the in-person parts. Rewind is in Wynwood, minutes from Midtown, Edgewater and Brickell, and patients come to us from across Miami-Dade and Broward, from Coral Gables and Key Biscayne to Aventura, Doral and Fort Lauderdale.

Red flags worth walking away from

Some answers should end the conversation, whichever clinic gives them:

  • A prescription before any bloodwork, or from a questionnaire alone.
  • The same starting dose for everyone. A dose should come from your labs, your symptoms and your history.
  • No follow-up labs on the calendar. If nobody can tell you when your hematocrit, estradiol and PSA will next be checked, nobody is checking them.
  • Pressure to prepay for a long package before you have seen your results or met the person prescribing.
  • No named clinician. You should know who is responsible for your treatment.
  • Silence on fertility. A clinic that never asks whether you want children has not thought about your future, only the prescription.

None of these are hard to spot once you know to look. The questions above are designed to surface them in a single phone call.
